About
If you’ve suffered an injury from gym equipment or fear exacerbating an old ailment from your active past, consider Personal Training with Andrew. As a qualified healthcare practitioner, Andrew is not only a Chiropractor but also a Personal Trainer and Clinical Pilates Instructor. This unique expertise allows him to offer tailored training that addresses your specific needs, ensuring a safe and effective approach to reaching your fitness goals while managing any concerns related to injuries or previous conditions.
What is “Functional Training”?
Functional training is a type of exercise and fitness training that focuses on enhancing your ability to perform daily activities and movements more efficiently and effectively. Instead of isolating individual muscles or using traditional gym equipment, functional training aims to improve overall functional fitness by incorporating exercises that mimic real-life activities and challenges.
The goal of functional training is to improve the way your body functions as a whole, enhancing your strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and endurance in ways that are directly applicable to your everyday life. This type of training often involves multi-joint movements and engages multiple muscle groups simultaneously.
Functional training exercises can include activities such as squatting, lunging, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, and lifting. These exercises are designed to improve your body’s ability to handle various movement patterns, making you better equipped to handle the demands of daily tasks and activities, as well as sports and recreational pursuits.
Functional training can be particularly beneficial for athletes, individuals recovering from injuries, and anyone looking to improve their overall fitness and movement capabilities. It can help prevent injuries, improve posture, and enhance overall physical performance.
