Chiropractor Preston
Andrew has the ability to diagnose and treat a multitude of musculoskeletal conditions.
He is committed to providing safe and effective chiropractic therapy. Having a passion for helping people from all walks of life with back pain, neck pain, disc herniation, sciatica and headache to name a few, he believes when it comes to chronic musculoskeletal injuries, conservative allied health therapy should be your first point of call and that patients should not skip straight to surgical and specialist consultation. He is of the opinion that many issues (even if they are long term and nerve pain related) can be resolved with massage/ adjustments, exercise prescription and basic lifestyle changes.
We provide Chiropractic care to all local Preston residents and surrounding communities including Fairfield, Northcote, Heidelberg, Pascoe Vale, Coburg, Ivanhoe, Heidelberg Heights, Reservoir, Thomastown & Thornbury.
What qualifications does our Chiropractor hold?
Our Chiropractor completed his qualification at RMIT. During his time there he completed a 3 year Health Science Bachelor Degree with an emphasis on biological sciences, anatomy, physiology and human nutrition and a 2 year Masters in Clinical Chiropractic. He is also a qualified Personal Trainer, Dry Needlist (similar application to acupuncture) and Clinical Pilates Instructor.
What does a chiropractic appointment look like at Advanced Health?
Unlike many other Chiropractors in the Preston, Reservoir, Thornbury and Northcote areas, we offer longer standard appointment times of 30-45 minutes, which enables our Chiropractors to use a multi-disciplinary approach by combining multiple therapies as a means of treatment within one consultation. A Chiropractic treatment can include Chiropractic adjustments, Massage, Dry Needling/ Acupuncture, spinal traction (ideal for disc injuries), Taping and Clinical Reformer Pilates.

No they don’t, we are gentle and precise when manually adjusting patients’ spines at Advanced Health Chiropractic Preston.
95% of the time, no. For most patients with common spinal musculoskeletal injuries X-rays (radiographs) are unnecessary. We will only refer you to get X-ray’s if it’s clinically indicated. Many Chiropractors refer for X-rays for the majority of new patients entering their clinics. This is a dangerous practice because it exposes the patient to unnecessary levels of radiation. It also puts an excessive financial toll on the Australian medicare system.
If we do believe X Rays are required, you will be referred to a bull billing X ray clinic so there will be no out of cost expense on your behalf.
Over the past 10 years since opening Advanced Health Chiropractic in Preston Andrew has performed approximately 36,000 Chiropractic treatments. He takes his time and always thinks of the patient’s best interests first. He’s careful and methodical.
After a detailed assessment of your problem, if Andrew can help, he will focus on getting you pain free as quickly as possible. If he believes your injury is out of his scope of practice, you will be referred to the healthcare practitioner that fits treating your injury best. Over the years Andrew has built a large network of practitioners, spanning across the Physio, Osteo, Massage, Podiatry and Medical Specialist professions.

Yes it can. We work on the muscles and joints around the neck. If these muscles are tight, they can put pressure on the nerves that refer to the forehead and eyes. This gives you the sensation of pain around your forehead, however, the root cause of this pain could be derived from your neck.

No we don’t. Andrew has a number of tools and skills at his disposal he can lean on, to help alleviate your pain without any “cracking”.
Since Advanced Health Chiropractic in Preston’s inception back in 2011, Andrew has performed approximately 36,000 Chiropractic treatments.
No, we aren’t. Chiropractors are professionally trained and highly skilled in treating musculoskeletal injuries, particularly around the back and neck areas. I (Andrew) understand skeletal biomechanics and back pain conditions better than the majority of healthcare professionals, from massage therapists to GP’s, but it still doesn’t make me, Andrew; Doctor Andrew…
The title “Dr.” is an arbitrary title that some Chiropractors decide to put in front of their name, which for the most part, is for advertising and marketing purposes. The idea being, it gives the Chiropractor a perceived level of authority to the general public. Legally, I could present as “Dr Andrew Cunningham (Doctor of Chiropractic)”- “the doctor of Chiropractic” add-on legalises the title in Australia. However, I personally feel putting unsupported titles in front of a health professionals name is somewhat confusing and deceptive. I’m not a Medical Doctor and I haven’t completed a PHD. So I see no legitimate grounds as to why I would use this as a title on my webpage, signage or business cards. However, I have completed 5 years of training at university to become certified by APHRA as a Chiropractor in Australia. I have also completed a Masters degree at RMIT in “Clinical Chiropractic”.
Transparency and authenticity is an extremely important part of my job being a Chiropractor.
