Functional Training Preston

What is “Functional Training”?

Functional Training, also known as Functional Fitness, goes beyond traditional exercise routines by focusing on improving your ability to perform everyday activities and movements effectively. It’s a training approach that aims to enhance your overall functionality and quality of life by targeting movements and muscles that you commonly use in your daily activities.

Unlike isolated exercises that target individual muscles, functional training emphasizes movements that engage multiple muscle groups simultaneously. The goal is to improve your body’s overall coordination, balance, flexibility, and strength in ways that directly benefit your daily life. Functional training takes into account your specific needs, whether you’re an office worker, a laborer, an athlete, or anyone else with unique movement patterns.

For example, if you spend most of your day sitting at a desk, functional training might involve exercises that counteract the negative effects of prolonged sitting, such as targeting the muscles that support your posture and core stability. If you’re a tradesperson, the training might focus on movements that improve your lifting technique and enhance your endurance for physically demanding tasks.

Why see a Personal Trainer who has additional training/expertise in allied health?

At our Personal training studio in Preston we don’t settle for standard Personal Trainers in Preston. Our trainer Andrew has a strong understanding in biomechanical pathologies and in addition to his PT qualifications he also holds Chiropractic and Clinical Pilates certification.

If you have a chronic (long term) pain or a recurring injury and you don’t want to flare it up with physical activity, then Andrew will tailor a program that is specific to you.
